Welcome to 2012 competition
Welcome to the 2012 competition, our 28th year. You are invited to enter your wines for evaluation by our prestigious panel of judges, among the best tasters in the world.
We saw many exciting and positive changes at the 2011 competition. Our partnership with TexSom under the leadership of Drew Hendricks, MS and James Tidwell, MS brought great energy, enthusiasm and expertise from the contribution of their efforts and support. Our hosts at The Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas treated us like visiting royalty, so needless to say we are happy to be in their capable hands again in 2012.
We are making another big change for the 2012 competition. We conducted a survey of our 2011 judges who were near unanimity in their call for a change in the way we categorize wines for evaluation. For 27 years we have organized wines into categories by grape variety, but in response to our judges’ recommendations we will be grouping wines by country and appellation. This is a big change for us and unusual for US competitions. We believe along with our judges that the wines will be more fairly considered in the context of their respective regions.
Why should you trust us to extend a fair and unbiased evaluation of your wines? Look around our site to follow our history and see the breadth of experience and ability of the judges to find winners. It’s also well known that a medal here has a proven impact on sales in the lucrative Texas market. And now--through TexSom—the potential is nationwide!
Benefits for Medal Winners Include:
